Mindfulness is the pract
ice of purposely focusing your attention on the present moment—and acceptin
g it without judgment. It has been found to be a key element in stress redu
ction and overall well -being. The practice of mindfulness works, in part
, by helping people to accept their experiences—including painful emotions—
rather than react to them with aversion and avoidance.
During this L
earn and Lunch, we will first focus on the benefits of mindfulness and how
to incorporate this practice into our work in therapy sessions. Following t
his overview, we will spend time engaged in an actual mindful meditation pr
actice.
