Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) Offers Substantive Healing and Change

This introduction to some aspects of AEDP will give a brief overview of two basic concepts in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy. Participants will be offered opportunities for experiences to give them a “taste” of some of the experiential components of the model. A demonstration with a volunteer will be used to show the model “in action”, followed by a chance for questions and answers.

- Participants will be able to identify 2 components of AEDP’s basic theoretical model.
- Participants will be able to name 2 different interventions they can immediately use in their own sessions to reduce client anxiety.
- Participants will be able to explain 2 interventions useful for supporting client to relinquish defenses.
- Participants will understand the utility of reflection, and be able to invite their clients to reflect on minor and major changes in sessions and in their lives (how to Metaprocess experiences of change).

Catherine Halliday is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private psychotherapy practice in Ithaca, New York. She has more than 40 years of experience in Human Services; the past 25 years have been dedicated to clinical social work practice. Ms. Halliday's specialty is in treatment of Trauma.
