This intermediate DBT workshop will focus on improving individual counseling skills and case conceptualization to increase motivation and commitment. A primary focus will be on understanding and identifying secondary targets in DBT.

Learning Objectives: As a result of this workshop participants will able to:

  1. Describe 3 primary dialectical dilemmas that occur within families
  2. Identify 3 dialectical dilemmas for individual clients and related secondary target behaviors
  3. Name behavioral signs of apparent competence
  4. Describe active passivity

Speaker Biography:

Dr. Alycia Dadd, Director of Consultation Services, is a full-time psychologist and a certified school psychologist in both New York and Connecticut. Prior to joining CBC, Dr. Dadd worked for 13 years as a school psychologist providing individual and group counseling, conducting evaluations, and developing social-emotional programs for a wide range of students. Dr. Dadd has also worked in residential programs, in mental health/educational research, and in therapeutic foster care. She has received specialized training in several evidenced-based treatments including Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Multisystemic Therapy. Dr. Dadd completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Delaware where she majored in Psychology and minored in Spanish. She earned her master’s degree in School Psychology from Teachers College – Columbia University and her doctoral degree from Fordham University.

To receive continuing education credit, you must complete the post-event survey emailed to those registered at the end of the presentation.
