Let’s talk about ourselves! This conversation will be specifically focused on our use of ourselves in the therapeutic relationship. AEDP trains clinicians how to make judicious use of our own lived experience, and of our authentic moment to moment reflections on what we are noticing in our own bodies, hearts, and minds—— in the therapy room. Diana Fosha, creator of the model wrote: “The therapist’s emotional presence, experience, and expression are powerful tools in the therapeutic process.” (2001; Journal of Clinical Psychology) The plan for this lunch and learn is to provide a chance for us to try out some ways of showing up as ourselves, in a way that supports our clients’ internal exploration. Kate will offer a bit of didactic information, and lead us in some experiential exercises. The intention is for us to have a good time together!
